Temperance Meeting
A public meeting of the Citizens Temperance League and all in sympathy with temperance will be held in the Holiness Workers' Church, corner of Fourth and Hurontario Streets, on Thursday, January 28th at 8 o'clock P.M.

Fireman's Ball
For Friday  January 29 in the Temple Hall.
The committee in charge are leaving nothing undone, and have secured the services of an orchestra to furnish the music and all those who patronize the entertainment may expect a pleasant time.

In her $1,000. cloth of gold directoire is said to be a vision of billowy delight in the new comedy, "The Night of the Play". Grand Opera House, Thursday, February 11th.

A ship was built in Collingwood in 1909. Called the Hamonic it was considered the most beautiful luxury liner on the Great Lakes. It burned in 1945.

Jan. 23rd The steamship Florida with 850 Italian immigrant passengers collided off Long Island with the luxury liner Republic a steamship belonging to the White Star line. Jack Binns (26), a Marconi telegraph operator on the Republic, sent and received messages for hours into the crisis and helped saved 550 Republic passengers plus 192 crew. There were only six deaths.
